Editor is included in developing a book or other project from the initial concept onward, working closely with the author or client to study competing works and create a sharpened product.
Editing includes tackling structural issues such as plot flow, scene and character development, transitions, and dialogue.
Copyediting/Line Editing
Copyediting includes checking and correcting grammar, punctuation, syntax, spelling, and adherence to style guides.
Proofreading services
Proofreading includes checking punctuation and grammatical errors introduced after copyediting, such as spelling and inconsistencies in language, style, or formatting.
Sensitivity/Diversity Reading
Diversity reads include reading work and researching details related to the manuscript topic. As a reader, I alert the author to instances of racism, stereotypes, or cultural inaccuracies in the development of characters and the story and discuss how these can be avoided.
